![]() ![]() ![]() SCSA is one of Ohio's largest sportsmen's organizations. Founded in 1932, a non-profit corporation presently composed of more than 600 members, SCSA accepts new members as approved by the Board of Trustees. Applicants must apply in person at a general meeting. SCSA is affiliated with The National Rifle Association, League of Ohio Sportsmen, Civilian Marksmanship Program, and the Ohio Division of Wildlife. The organization owns properties in North Royalton, CuyahogaCounty (Rte. 3 near Boston Rd. - 55 acres), and in Chatham Twp., Medina County (Erhart Rd., south of W. Smith Rd.- 335 acres). Facilities include: shooting ranges for rifle, pistol, skeet, trap, muzzle-loader and archery; fields for hunting, dog training and field trials; an indoor 8-position range for smallbore rifle, air rifle and target pistol; two stocked fishing ponds; two picnic grounds. There is pheasant, rabbit, deer and squirrel hunting on club owned and leased property. SCSA junior and senior rifle teams for small bore & CMP hi-power rifle compete at local and national events. Youth Hunter Education Challenge teams are sent to state and national competitions. SCSA sponsors junior members at the Coonskin Cap Brigade, Junior Anglers and at the Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock. Club sponsored activities include the annual Ox-roast, Clam Bake, Night at the Races, Childrens' Fishing Derby, Ham Shoots in the spring and Turkey Shoots in the fall, Fathers' Day picnic, National Hunting and Fishing Day activities and intensive land and animal conservation activities. SCSA conducts firearms marksmanship courses for youth and adults, competitive events for firearms and archery marksmanship skills, and field trials. Member certified instructors conduct courses in Hunter Safety, Home Firearm Safety, Personal Protection, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Range Safety. Instructor certification courses are also offered. SCSA hosts the Cleveland Disabled Shooting Championship. This is the first stop on the NRA-Beeman Grand Prix Championship Tour, a series of precision air gun competitions for disabled athletes. It is held in March at the American Sportsman Range in Columbia Station. This association has one of the lowest annual dues of any organization around the state. Work parties are numerous and include anything from cutting grass to assisting at one of SCSA's many functions throughout the year. SCSA is also a 100% NRA organization. Proof of current NRA membership and voter registration is required for new members and renewals. SCSA's general meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month, starting at 8:00 PM at the AmPol Hall 4737 Pearl Road (SR 42) located one mile north of Brookpark Road (SR 17).
